logo_leanPort Severn is the home base of LEAN (Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude, and Nutrition) Fitness and Wellness, and owner Julie Wynhofen’s enthusiasm and passion for helping others attain a healthier lifestyle reverberates throughout Township of Georgian Bay and its neighbouring communities. While this is true today, Julie was uncertain of what the future had in store when she first moved to the area in 2013. She soon found the support of clients and the community, as well as Muskoka’s inspirational surroundings, was all she would need to build a thriving business.

LEAN Fitness and Wellness offers year-round and seasonal residents with traditional exercise programs, such as: fitness classes, personal training, nutritional coaching, running groups, active living, and older adults fitness and recreation; in an inclusive environment adhering to the mantra that “fitness and wellness is for every body.” While some of these exercise programs take place indoors, Julie likes to incorporate Muskoka’s natural surroundings to keep things fresh and engaging for clients. LEAN Fitness and Wellness takes advantage of the desirable Muskoka summers and local parks by conducting the entire summer programming outdoors – June to September. It’s not uncommon to see Julie and her “LEAN Team” out participating in alternative exercise activities, such as paddle boarding on the Trent Severn Waterway, running along the School House Trail, and tackling obstacle courses.

The Muskoka region is full of recreational opportunities, which enhance the quality of life of its residents and visitors – hiking, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and skiing to name a few. LEAN Fitness and Wellness aims to provide its clients with the energy, strength, and stamina to make the most of these opportunities and to maximize the benefits of living in Muskoka. At the core of LEAN Fitness and Wellness is its clients’ health and that of the community. In recognition of Julie’s commitment to the health and well-being of the community, Southeast Georgian Bay (SEGBAY) Chamber of Commerce awarded her the 2016 Citizen of the Year award.

Julie and her family are thankful for the community support, and have come to know the Township of Georgian Bay is a great place to live, work and play. LEAN Fitness and Wellness is looking forward to many more years of paying it forward by giving its clients an opportunity to do just that – live, work, and play!
