For more than 10 years, Lake of Bays Brewing Co. has been a mainstay of the Ontario craft beer scene and a pillar in the Lake of Bays business community. The brewery started as an idea by president and founder, Darren Smith, in his university apartment. At the young age of 23, his dream became a reality, as patrons from around the area gathered to witness the official ribbon cutting in May 2010. Fast forward a decade – Lake of Bays Brewing Company has continued to grow and now employs over 50 people. Their beer lineup has broadened to include everything from light lager to double IPA stout, and they are always experimenting with new styles and flavours.
In addition to the original Brewery and Taproom in Baysville, the business has expanded to include two brewpub locations: the Huntsville Brewhouse and the Bracebridge Barrelhouse. Each features a microbrewery where they offer barrel-aged and experimental beers brewed on site, as well as the regular Lake of Bays beer lineup. They serve a wide variety of upscale pub fare incorporating locally fresh and seasonal ingredients.
