Muskoka is indeed a special place, and for anyone that has vacationed here you can understand why. The place is magical, and it evokes a sense of emotional attachment in people that stays with them their entire life.
Muskoka has received countless accolades as one of the world’s top destinations. To name a few, National Geographic named Muskoka one of the20 Best Trips in the World, and Reader’s Digest recently appointed Muskoka as one of the Top 10 Greatest Canadian Road Trips. These awards are a testament to how special our little Paradise is, just 2 hours north of Toronto.

Residents, cottagers and vacationers are extremely passionate about Muskoka. The passion for Muskoka is truly one of the most bizarre phenomena, and something that really isn’t seen in other parts of Ontario. One only needs to look at pictures shared of Muskoka to see how deep this love runs. It seems that everyone has found their favourite place on earth, and it is right here in Muskoka.

Probably the easiest explanation as to why people are so passionate about Muskoka, is this is the place where they are always the most relaxed. Many people drive up the highway wound tight from the stressors of city life, and when they reach their destination in Muskoka all of that just vanishes. The rush to catch the crosswalk is replaced with a casual stroll in one of our charming downtowns, stopping in at unique shops and bakeries along the way. The 24-hour buzz of the city life is swapped for the early morning call of the loon while you sip a coffee. In the day and age where you are constantly connected, Muskoka lets you disconnect, and just be in the moment.

It is the dream of this charmed life that brought me to Muskoka 4 ½ years ago, and I haven’t looked back. My knowledge of Muskoka was minimal at the time, but I knew that it was naturally beautiful and had exceptional golf courses.  In the years since I’ve discovered there is so much more that makes Muskoka special than just golf and breathtaking scenery. Whether it is a hike to watch the sunset at Huckleberry Rock, cross country skiing at Arrowhead Provincial Park, paddling up the Muskoka River, catching a top performance at the Kee to Bala, or making s’mores at the campfire on a summer’s night, Muskoka is filled with unforgettable experiences that create a lifetime of memories. The fact that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth is just icing on the cake!

The best part about living and working in Muskoka is that the Muskoka lifestyle we get to live breeds happiness. I still get goosebumps when I witness an exceptional sunset over the lake. Being able to experience amazing culinary, cultural, and outdoor activities create the perfect feeling of both awe and excitement. Millions of people travel to Muskoka every year to capture these feelings, but living here we get to experience them year round.

We live in a global, connected world, creating an opportunity for many business people to work from any place they want in the world. I believe that as the years pass, the desire for the Muskoka lifestyle is going to convince many entrepreneurs and established businesses to plant their roots in Muskoka so they can work where they play, and love where they live.
